The Current Population Survey (CPS)
is a survey conducted by the U.S. Bureau of
the Census under contract for the U.S. Bureau
of Labor Statistics. The primary purpose
of this survey is to determine the nation's
monthly unemployment rate.
Every March additional questions are
asked which essentially update the population
characteristics included in the last census.
Due to sample sizes these data need
to be used with caution.
