The following tables were prepared from the U.S. Bureau of the Census, Subject Summary Tape File, Geographic Mobility in the United States: SSTF 15. This file presents data for non-movers; movers within State, county, and metropolitan/nonmetropolitan area; and flows between States, or metropolitan/nonmetropolitan areas between 1985 and 1990 for all persons five years and over in the United States.

Definitions:

In-Migrants - Persons who lived in the State on April 1, 1990, but were residing in another state, foreign country, Puerto Rico, or an outlying territory in 1985. - Persons who lived in the State on April 1, 1990, but were residing in another state, foreign country, Puerto Rico, or an outlying territory in 1985.

Out-Migrants – Persons who lived in the state in 1985, but in a different state on April 1, 1990.

Net-Migrants – The number of In-Migrants minus the number of Out-Migrants.
