New business incorporations are newly opened active establishments. This data is not seasonally adjusted.

METHODOLOGY:  
New business incorporations consist of the number of newly established businesses. It does not include changes in ownership of previously operating businesses or changes in the business name, location, legal type or mergers. Dun and Bradstreet monitors the number of businesses started weekly and publishes business start data in regular monthly reports for all 50 states.

REVISIONS:  The year-ago month is subject to revision when the current month is released.
