ESTIMATED RESIDENT POPULATION,
NEW YORK STATE COUNTIES
Resident population is estimated annually at
the mid-year point of the year, July 1, by the
U.S. Bureau of the Census.
METHODOLOGY:
Using the latest Decennial Census as a base,
current estimates of resident population are
prepared using actual vital statistics data
from the National Center for Health Statistics
(NCHS) and an estimate of net migration using
Internal Revenue Service tax returns. Resident
population includes military populations and
persons living in institutions. These estimates
are produced through the Federal-State Cooperative
Program for Population Estimates.
REVISIONS:
This data is subject to annual revision
back to the most recent Census date and supercedes
previously released estimates. Note that the
2000 Census counts in this report reflect revisions
subsequent to the original release of the Census.
