COUNTY BUSINESS PATTERNS

The County Business Patterns provides data on the number of employees, payroll, number of establishments, and number of establishments by industry within each county on an annul basis. It excludes self-employed persons, domestic service workers, railroad employees, agricultural production workers, and most government employees.
 

METHODOLOGY:
Data are collected the Census Bureau’s annual Company Organization Survey, Annual Survey of Manufactures, Current Business Surveys, and administrative records from the Internal Revenue Service and the Social Security Administration.
 

REVISIONS:
There are normally no revisions of these data once they are released.
 

RELATIONSHIP TO OTHER DATA:
Due to differences in definitions, coverage, and collection techniques these data are close, but not identical, to those that would be produced in the Economic Census.
